Oh, Great! Another Female Rapper..
Although she’s a writer, don’t judge this book by its cover!
Okay, hear me out. What if the stigma of over saturation of rappers in the music industry isn’t the problem? What if the lack of recognition of the diversity is? Stay with me. There are many types of apples, correct? How is it that we can clearly tell the difference between each and call them by name? But, we tend to generalize Artists as if their uniqueness isn’t worth acknowledging.
Caly Michigan is giving energy that you might not have experienced in this lifetime. She prides herself on being unfiltered and vulnerable in her music. Most of all, she uses herself as a vessel for silenced voices. Even her own. As an influencer, she’s aware of her impact on others. With that being said, she advocates for women dealing with anxiety and depression. Therefore, she promotes self love and care.
On June 8th, Caly’s debut single called Note To Self will be released. The song is dedicated to women of color in their twenties who are still figuring out this thing called life. Adulting is rough, and the song is the new self care and self love anthem! All Summer 2021, we want to have a #SelfCareSummer by #SistersSupportingSisters💜
Complimenting the release, Caly will be bringing back her Self Care Packages! You can expect the announcement on what new products are being featured very soon. While you’re here, don’t forget to check out the new “Note To Self” Merch!
This is the beginning of a new era in music. It’s time to get prepared to see a lot more of Caly Michigan as well as others similar to her. Real calm, positive and poetic. Just like her inspirations Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj, and the late Lexii Alijai. May she Rest In Peace. Let the lyrics speak to you.
NOTE TO SELF: Your soul is pure and valid. Forgive your past, and move onto healthy habits.
